A crew of patches, rude mechanicals,
who work for bread upon Athenian stalls,
were met together to rehearse a play.

A Midsummer Night's Dream, Act III, Scene II

The original Rude Mechanicals were characters in William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a troupe of actors performing live theatre for the entertainment of their community. Like our namesake, The Rude Mechanicals Theatre Company is a non-profit, community theatre.  It is our mission to produce avant-garde, thought-provoking live theatre in an experimental and intimate style, as well as advocacy for and education concerning live theatre and performance arts.

Formed in 2018, we will be presenting modern dramas and comedies, original works, and classical adaptations in our own original style.

Theatre is a mirror of society and, as such, should endeavor to reflect all facets of society.  In furtherance of that vital goal, we are dedicated to policies of non-discrimination, diversity, and inclusion.  Membership and casting in The Rude Mechanicals Theatre Company shall not be on the basis of gender identity, sexuality, race, appearance, ethnicity, socioeconomic background, age, disability, national origin, or religion.

A nonprofit company, we are reliant upon the financial support of the public, our donors, and our patrons.  We ask for your support, financially and otherwise, in our mission to entertain and educate.
